BOOKS, BOOKS, BOOKS

Each week the library will highlight several books that might be of interest to students.
This week: "Deadline" by Chris Crutcher - Given the medical diagnosis of one year to live, high school senior Ben Wolf decides to fulfill his greatest fantasies, ponders his life's purpose and legacy, and has dream conversations with a spiritual guide known as "Hey-Soos." He is determined to keep this diagnosis a secret. One of his greatest fantasies is to become the best 123 pound football player Trout High has ever seen. Living with a secret isn't easy though.

"The Illustrated Mum" by Jacqueline Wilson - Covered from head to toe with one-of-a kind tattoos, Marigold is the brightest, most beautiful mother in the world. That's what 10 year old Dolphin thinks--she just wishes Marigold wouldn't stay out quite so late or have mood swings every now and again. Star, Dolphin's older sister, loves Marigold too, but she's tired of looking after her. Their newly discovered dad offers to take the girls, but Dolphin does not want to leave her mother. She is determined to make things work, but Marigold takes a turn for the worse and Dolphin is in too deep and finds help where she least expects it.
