Sign up in the library to participate.&lt;br /&gt;2. Take an Accelerated Reader test or write a test to verify reading the book.&lt;br /&gt;3. Every student receives a free 1 book start in the Science Fiction category for reading "Uglies".&lt;br /&gt;4. Students will also get credit towards a mdedal for completion of a Science Fair project.&lt;br /&gt;5. Students can receive a Bronze medal for reading 2 books, a Silver medal for reading 4 books, or qualify for a Gold Medal if they read 6 books in 6 different catagories.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1 Fiction book&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1 Biography&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1 International book about a country or a person from a different country&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1 Poetry book&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1 Science book or a book about a scientist or inventor, or a science fiction book&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1 Sports book or a book about a sports figure.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Students must sign-up to participate and pass Accelerated Reader tests with 80% or higher. An Award assembly will be held in March to award the medals.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We are also celebrating the 40 days of non-violence with a "Reading Special". If a student reads a biography about a person who has promoted peace or non-violent change that affect people's lives, a credit for 2 books will be given toward the total books.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Students averaged 130 books per week last year. Hope to beat that total this year. So start READING.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;6th Grade students need to return or pay for overdue books by Wednesday, January 23 in order to attend the dance on Thursday, January 24.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In the library this week on Monday, January 21, Mr. McCullough's Leaders group is scheduled for research. Susmitha Daggubati has read 10 books. Her picture was taken with her favorite book. An I READ poster will be created and displayed in the library. All mystery books from the library have been pulled to a special section for students to select a mystery book.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We have added an area to the library called the &lt;strong&gt;BoysZone&lt;/strong&gt;.
